Discover the flora and fauna of Lichtenberg Castle ! Embark on an unusual guided tour of Lichtenberg Castle through its fauna and flora and discover the beauty of the nature that surrounds us. Guided nature tours are organized on Tuesday 23, Thursday 25 and Tuesday 30 April, departure at 3 p.m. from the reception/ticket office.

Children can discover the museum in a playful way, thanks to a game booklet about electric light available at the entrance. The Olympic flame is on its way to Paris and crosses paths with the electric light bulb. Together they'll explore the museum to find out how we got from the flame to the light bulb. Each room of the museum contains a riddle that visitors (accompanied by their parents) will have to solve. Each level has different riddles, making it an ideal outing for all the family. Although these booklets are self-guided, the presence and involvement of accompanying parents is essential. Two booklets will be available for visitors, one for 47 year-olds and the other for 8-12 year-olds.

In Berlin, Eva Braun, who has taken refuge in the bunker with her lover and soon-to-be husband, finds herself with a German soldier and a prisoner from a camp, a watchmaker by trade. She hopes that he will be able to restore all her watches to working order... and, in his "madness", put back into operation what is being destroyed around her... Repair the irreparable! It's a play that stirs us with the questions that its characters face and that we are constantly reminded of in the news: What makes it possible to accept the unacceptable? How can we forget or set aside our humanity? It's a tense, inward-looking story right to the end...

To mark the Fête de la nature, the Musée Zoologique is teaming up with the Jardin des Sciences to host an interactive bird concert under the Planetarium vault. The Strasbourg-based ensemble Intercolor will be performing a selection of early and contemporary music, including a world premiere by composer and ornithologist Emily Doolittle. A few specimens from the Musée Zoologique may even slip into the room...

Pink Floyd's iconic album "The Dark Side Of The Moon" has just celebrated its 50th anniversary. The Planetarium is offering you a 40-minute immersive show, featuring the iconic sounds of the album, combined with cosmic images linked to the album's visual story.

For around an hour and a half, accompanied by a mediator-guide, plunge into the half-light of the Memorial's rooms to discover, in a different way, the tumultuous history of Alsace and Moselle between 1870 and 1945, as well as the construction of Europe. The absence of light highlights the scenography, which becomes more prominent. The senses are heightened, the sounds amplified, and our bearings in space altered. Only the beam of light from the guide's torch illuminates the documents and archives that bear witness to this history. This tour offers a unique experience for visitors, whose perceptions sharpen and evolve as the tour progresses.

The forge in action!

It's Spring Festival time from 20 April to 5 May 2024. To celebrate the arrival of fine weather, Cigoland Park is organising the Spring Festival, a special time to enjoy the park with the whole family. This year, a giant treasure hunt is inviting children to explore the paths and alleys in search of members of the Bunny family.  All the children will have the chance to enter a prize draw for a chance to win one of the park passes on offer.
The trees are in bloom, the storks are slowly emerging from their nests, the atmosphere in the park is festive... spring is here ???? So look forward to recharging your batteries on 20 April and having fun surrounded by storks and other friendly animals in a natural setting that's in full bloom.

The exhibition presents a variety of fossils, skeletal casts and artists' views that illustrate the relationships between these species as well as the defence mechanisms of prey against their often oversized predators. That's why we've decided to introduce a new feature to the Meteor brewery: the Villa Meteor beer gardens! The concept? We're transforming the outdoor area of the Villa into a warm and friendly place for you and your loved ones!  On the programme: 12 different beers, snacks, background music and even a broadcast of the Olympic Games when they start! A subsidiary of the Port of Strasbourg since January 2016, Batorama is: 800,000 passengers/year from all over the world, 11 tour boats, the leading paying tourist activity in the area. Since 1947, the Port of Strasbourg's passenger transport department has been working to introduce partners and industrialists to the new port facilities. The PAS quickly felt the potential of its visits between the Rhine and the port basins.

In 1953, he acquired the Strasbourg, then another boat in 1957 capable of passing under the city&#39;s bridges. Urban navigation on the Ill then became possible. The PAS enlarges its fleet and develops its offer of tourist visits in the city centre to make it the largest paying tourist activity in the Grand Est: Batorama.

5 days Pass 

Built in the 12th century, the Haut-Koenigsbourg castle has for centuries been the witness to conflicts and rivalries between lords, kings and emperors. The castle has had a succession of illustrious owners who have left their mark on its history, and numerous events that have changed its appearance... To pass through the high gate of Haut-Koenigsbourg is to plunge into the world of the Middle Ages.

From the lower courtyard - with its inn, forge and mill - to the spiral staircases leading to the furnished flats of the lord, discover the architecture, the furnishings... but also a whole atmosphere steeped in history.

The drawbridge, the weapons room, the keep and the cannons are a constant reminder of the purpose of this mountain fortress built by an imperial Germanic family in the 12th century, which was subsequently besieged, destroyed and pillaged.

Abandoned after 1633, this prestigious castle was offered in 1899 by the town of S&eacute;lestat to William II of Hohenzollern. He dreamed of resurrecting the old Germanic Empire and fulfilled his passion for the Middle Ages by entrusting the restoration of Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle to the architect Bodo Ebhardt, a specialist in medieval fortifications.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the political dimension of this major project was to legitimise the young imperial dynasty of the Hohenzollerns and affirm the power of the new empire in the eyes of the world. Today, we admire more the educational aspect of this restoration, which without being indisputable, is mostly plausible.

Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle

The Haut-Koenigsbourg castle is located 26 km north of Colmar, 55 km south of Strasbourg and 12 km west of Sélestat. Motorway A35 exit 17 via Kintzheim or 18 via Saint-Hippolyte. N59 via Lièpvre.

Animals are not allowed except for guide dogs and assistance animals (upon presentation of proof).

A commanding view of the Alsace plain. On the western edge of the foothills of the Vosges, Kintzheim castle stands on a small rocky outcrop that looks down onto two valleys lying to the north and south. Its elevation is 260 m. This hill is about 100 metres above the village. The site includes an area of 850 m² in which the birds are housed, out of total of 3800 m². The display area is 800 m². In the 6th century, Kintzheim was known as Regis Villa. The Merovingian kings had made it the centre of a vast domain encompassing Haut-Koenigsbourg.

Work to build the castle began in 1250 on the orders of Emperor Frederick II of Hohenstaufen, who died the same year. It was completed in the 15th century.

Since it took up residence in the ruins of Kintzheim castle in 1968, la Volerie des Aigles has been working on an issue that is environmental, but mostly human. As a result of unjustified eradication campaigns and ever-expanding agriculture, the raptor population has fallen alarmingly. &nbsp; 
That is why the first park for birds of prey was set up, with the task of restoring the image of those birds in the eyes of the public in a manner that would be enjoyable and educational, helping the birds breed and supporting action for conserving biological diversity.

Limited mobility

The presentation area, the entire castle courtyard and part of the upper castle are accessible to pushchairs and PRM. Unfortunately, there are some areas that are not accessible because of the steps that have to be climbed. The fact that the castle is a listed building means that we have very limited possibilities for design, but we are continuing to work on optimising the comfort of the visit!

La Montagne des Singes is also a research centre. Ever since 1972 scientists have been conducting studies in the park, focusing on the social behaviour of Barbary macaques.


Monkey Mountain is an ideal study ground for researchers. The Magots live in complete freedom in a 24-hectare forest. These optimal living conditions, close to the wild, allow them great freedom of action. They can organise themselves into social units and develop the full range of their behaviour.

Numerous theses and master&#39;s degrees in ethology (behavioural studies) are carried out in our park by academics from all over the world. This research work has contributed significantly to a better understanding of the Barbary macaque.

The park is served by the Haut-Koenigsbourg shuttle bus - line 500 which links Sélestat station to the Haut-Koenigsbourg castle via the Volerie des Aigles and the Montagne des Singes.

From Strasbourg or Mulhouse: A35 exit n°17 then follow direction &#39;Haut-Koenigsbourg&#39; The park is located about 5 km from the motorway exit.

Fleckenstein Castle was mentioned for the first time in 1174 when Gottfried of Fleckenstein was a member of the court of the Emperor Frederick Barbarossa. For six hundred years it was held by the Fleckenstein family, one of the most influential in Lower Alsace. From a rock with basic fortifications it became a majestic castle with a reputation as an impregnable eyrie, which inspired the Strasbourg architect Daniel Specklin to picture it as ‘the ideal castle’ in 1589.

It was finally taken without resistance in 1680 by the soldiers of Louis XIV, who destroyed it with black gunpowder.

Curtain walls, fortified gates, 13th Century well tower, 16th Century stair tower, wells and cisterns carved from the rock make up the architectural features that justified the castle&rsquo;s listing as an ancient monument in 1898. They enable the visitor, even if they know little about fortifications, to appreciate the different stages in the development of the medieval castle.

Fleckenstein Castle

Fleckenstein is accessible by public transport from Wissembourg station and by connecting with TER trains from Haguenau, Winden, Neustadt and Landau on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from Easter to All Saints Day.

The building of an historical interpretation centre telling the story of the people of Alsace and Moselle was the resultat of an initiative of Jean Pierre Masseret, then Secretary of State of Former Soldiers and War Victims, and supported by regional elected officials such as Philippe Richert, Alain Ferry and Frederic Bierry. In 1999, Philippe Richert and Jean-Pierre Masseret decided the construction of the Memorial Alsace-Moselle and decided to build it in Schirmeck.

Located midway between Strasburg and St-Di&eacute;-des-Vosges, Schirmeck is at the crossroads of the Bas-Rhin, Haut-Rhin and Vosges French departments. Schirmeck was the site of an internment camp opened by the Nazis in August 1940. Moreover, the site of the Memorial faces Struthof, the former concentration camp, as well as the European Centre of the Deported Resistance Members, located on the other side of the valley. The proximity of these two sites, as well as their complementary tour visits, makes the memorial a must-see for anyone visiting Alsace.

On 18 June 2005, the Memorial opened its doors to the public. Jacques Chirac, President of the French Republic, inaugurated it on 3 November of the same year.

Alsace-Moselle Memorial

The Alsace-Moselle Memorial is located at the crossroads of Alsace-Lorraine and the Vosges. By car, it is: <ul>	<li>40 minutes from Strasbourg</li>	<li>45 minutes from Colmar and Saint-Dié </li>	<li>1 hour from Nancy </li>	<li>1 hour, 45 minutes from Metz</li>	<li>30 minutes from the Entzheim Airport</li></ul>

Schirmeck is served by the Strasbourg/Saint-Dié Line. (40 minutes from Strasbourg). From the train station and the town centre, the Memorial is a short 10-minute walk.

The Memorial is accessible to people with disabilities. For those with reduced mobility or those who are handicapped, as well as those who may have difficulty walking, the Memorial is accessible through an upper parking lot.

Situated in the village where René Lalique founded his factory in 1921, the museum has an extraordinary display of Lalique’s creations, focusing mainly on glass.

Opened in July 2011, the Lalique Museum is unique in Europe. Situated in the village where Ren&eacute; Lalique founded his factory in 1921, it pays homage to this genius of a designer as well as to his successors and the men and women who even today perpetuate the glassmaker&rsquo;s know-how. This is a permanent exhibition of exceptional collections. More than 650 pieces are on display, embracing all aspects of the Lalique creativity : designs, jewellery and items of glassware and crystal ware.

Visual disability

The Lalique Museum is not suitable for a fully independent visit by visually impaired visitors. However, a special guide has been developed: the two-voice guide. It allows a visually impaired person and his or her companion to visit the museum independently thanks to two booklets: each one has complementary information to share with the other, in particular images in relief, texts in Braille and indications for understanding the space and the exhibition. At the end of the visit, a tactile table provides a sensitive approach to the manufacture of an emblematic Lalique vase: the Bacchantes vase.In addition, adapted guided tours can be organised by reservation, allowing a sensory approach to the collections.

Wingen-sur-Moder is on the TER train line Strasbourg-Sarreguemines-Sarrebruck, 45 minutes from Strasbourg. The museum is 2km from the station.

The Vaisseau is a formidable mediation tool built and managed by the European Collectivity of Alsace since 2005. Welcoming around 170,000 visitors each year, the Vaisseau's mission is to help people discover science in a different way and to disseminate scientific and technical culture to a variety of audiences.

From Place de la Bourse, follow the cycle path along "Quai du Général Koenig" then "Quai des Alpes". Cross the Pont du Danube bridge on your right, towards "Neudorf Meinau". The Vaisseau will be on your left, straight after the bridge.

Take bus no. 30 towards "Robertsau Sainte-Anne / Robertsau Chasseurs" and get off at the "Danube" stop.

From the M35 (towards Colmar or Paris), get off at junction 4 towards Kehl/Place de l’Etoile. Continue along the E52-M1004 towards Kehl. After the tunnel, continue along the Route du Rhin, then at the 3rd set of traffic lights turn left into "Rue Alfred Kastler"; take the first right "Rue Philippe Dollinger". The Vaisseau is located immediately on your right, before the Pont du Danube bridge. There is a free car park open from 07.00 to 19.00 which you can use. As you leave, remember to ask for a ticket from the security officials.

Created in 1976, NaturOparC is a nature park inviting its visitors to a pleasant walk in a preserved wilderness, a place of quietness dedicated to observation, where it is good to stroll! The best advice we can give you is... take your time, be patient and look at every corner so as not to lose a crumb, or rather a feather, of your visit! 

NaturOparC has been in existence for 44 years... and it was under the name of &quot;Parc des Cigognes&quot; that the story began in 1976: the park was born from the desire of Jean-Claude and Jacques RENAUD to protect the White Stork, the emblem of Alsace, which was then in danger of disappearing. Over the years, the park has created new facilities under the impetus of J&eacute;r&ocirc;me, Jean-Claude&#39;s son, to offer its 120,000 annual visitors an exotic and enriching experience. On the occasion of its 40th anniversary in 2016, the name was changed to NaturOparC, more representative of the scope of the missions and activities now offered.

The Écomusée d'Alsace opened its doors to the public on 1 June 1984. It was inaugurated shortly afterwards by Jack Lang, Minister of Culture. When it opened, the museum had about twenty buildings, some of which were unfinished, but it was already a success! It welcomed 75,000 visitors in its first year. Everyone encouraged the association to continue the adventure. The Alsatians then donated thousands of objects to the Écomusée d'Alsace, constituting the beginning of the interior fittings of the buildings: furniture, clothes, documents, photographs, etc.

La Maison du Fromage - Munster Valley

On March 12, 1985, Georges Trincot, an artist from Colmar and collector of antique toys, and Pierre Patoor, set up the Musée Animé du Jouet et des Petits Trains (MAJEPT) association. Their objective was to encourage the exhibiting of toys (trains miniatures, dolls, mechanical toys, etc.), and particularly any items related to locomotion.

In 1987, the municipality of Colmar acquired Georges Trincot’s collection. On January 25, 1990, the Municipal Council asked the MAJEPT association to manage and administer the future museum to be opened in December 1993 in what was previously the town’s cinema. Since July 1, 2012, the museum has been managed as a public service delegation from the municipality of Colmar.

The museum today focuses on the history of toys, which bear witness to the lives of past and current generations. The museum presents a collection of toys from the 19th century to today.

In the heart of the Vosges, are preserved the vestiges of the only concentration camp situated in France. 52,000 prisoners were forced to work in the quarry near the camp. 22,000 people died here. The visitor can discover 4 houses: the prison, the crematorium, a museum and also the former gas chamber.

The CERD is accessible to people with reduced mobility. A lift provides access to exhibition level -1, as well as to the first floor where the cafeteria is located. All the exhibition areas are accessible, thanks in particular to gently sloping access paths. Disabled parking is also available in the car park.Due to its geographical location, the camp is difficult to access. If you have any special needs, please go to the European Centre reception desk.

Pedestrian access

The building housing the Tellure Park is built on the same underground site where many silver veins were discovered in the fourteenth century causing what will later be called "The silver fever". The Saint-Jean Engelsbourg silver mine known as "La Colonne Saint-Jean" is the largest man-made underground cavity in the Vosges Mountains, a particularly vertiginous cavity (180m3).

9th - 10th centuries: First mention and &quot;official&quot; discovery of the Saint Jean vein by monks coming from the valley, probably from the priory of Li&egrave;pvre. It is assumed that the Romans already knew about the mines in the area (Roman presence in Alsace between 60 and 378 BC).

In the Middle Ages (13th century): small-scale mining, shafts were dug from the surface, but this was soon stopped because of flooding problems.

In the 15th and especially 16th centuries: mining flourished with the help of experienced miners from Saxony and Bohemia, and new digging techniques helped &quot;intensive&quot; mining. Numerous other mines are opened in the area, about 1100. Between 1530 and 1560, an estimated 1,500 kg of ore were mined per year. The exploitation of the Saint Jean lode began for him in 1549.

Between 1618 and 1648: Thirty Years&#39; War, Alsace is ravaged by war and the mines are pillaged. Mining activity falls sharply. The Saint Jean vein is abandoned in 1635. 
Activity resumed around 1711, but the work was too submerged by water and mining stopped again towards the end of the 18th century.

Between 1897 and 1907: the mines are reopened by the Germans to exploit cobalt, arsenic, and the little silver that remains (until now, only silver was exploited). The activity stops (once again) because a study estimates that the mines are empty.

From 1930 to 1976: The French resume the activity at the end of the 1930s, under the pretext that the study carried out by the Germans is erroneous. On 1 September 1939, the Second World War broke out, but it was not until 10 May 1940, the date of the German attack on France, that mining was definitively stopped. During the Occupation, the Germans did not resume the activity, but after the war a brief attempt was made to resume. 
The last mine officially closed in 1976, it was a cobalt mine.

A tool for local cultural development, "la Seigneurie" in Andlau were designed as a place of discovery and understanding of the heritage that makes up the territory of the Pays de Barr, and more generally of Alsace.

The Heritage Interpretation Centre is housed in a former residence of the lords of Andlau, built in 1582-1583, characteristic of Renaissance noble architecture and therefore one of the emblematic monuments of the village.

Window open on its teritory, the permanent course occupies the 1st, 2nd and 3rd floor of the Seigneurie and develops, on a surface of 700 m&sup2;, themes related to landscapes and their natural resources, religious or secular architecture as well as the know-how that allowed their construction.

This diversity of heritage, natural and cultural, is declined from various angles: viticulture, half-timbered houses, the abbey of Andlau, Romanesque art, religious buildings, castles, the building of the Lordship and its archaeological excavations, town halls and town halls of the Pays de Barr.

For their 10th anniversary, the workshops of the Seigneurie are getting a makeover and become the Seigneurie. If the name and visual identity evolve, the spirit of the place remains intact and offers you an ever more playful and interactive discovery of the heritage and history of the Pays de Barr.

The nearest train station to Andlau is Eichhoffen, which is on the Strasbourg-Obernai-Barr-Sélestat line. The Seigneurie workshops are located 3.1 km from the station.

The lime kiln was built between 1930 and 1935 by about 800 workers, mainly foreigners. The structural work was carried out by the Entreprise Générale d'Orléans, while the mechanisms such as the firing turrets and the ventilation system were carried out by specialist companies. The fort takes its name from a lime kiln which was in operation near the fortress until 1939, and which gave its name to the area surrounding the fortress. It also became its civilian name, its wartime code name having been A4. It is one of the 108 forts of the Maginot Line, spread over 750 km of borders. It belongs to the Fortified Sector of the Vosges.

Soldiers belonging to the Fortress Infantry Regiments (FIR) were mobilised several times before the Second World War, when Hitler annexed Austria, the Sudetenland and Bohemia. At the end of August 1939, these soldiers were mobilised for the last time to protect the country from the German invasion. During the &quot;Dr&ocirc;le de Guerre&quot;, the soldiers had organised life in the work, set up a grocery shop in the well room, and collected cattle and barrels of alcohol in Lembach, an empty village, its inhabitants having been evacuated to the Haute-Vienne, in Droux. The spirit that reigned in the fort at the time testifies to the morale of the troops, which according to some accounts was relatively good.

They remained in the fortress until 1 July 1940, when the regiments were forced to surrender by the French High Command, having fought mainly in May and June 1940. Indeed, a few days after the Armistice of 22 June 1940, the Maginot Line was given to the German army, which had succeeded in invading France, particularly in the north of the country.

It is a work of medium importance, covering an area of 26 hectares, with 6 combat blocks, including 3 artillery blocks, and 4.5 km of underground galleries. The number of men was nearly 600.

The Four à Chaux fortress - Maginot line

The Bouxwiller museum was created by an association in 1933. Gauthier Thieling, its first curator, was a history enthusiast and literature teacher at the Bouxwiller secondary school. Initially housed in the Town Hall, the museum acquired an important collection of popular arts and traditions under the impetus of its second curator, Alfred Matt, who remained in post until 1995.

In 1994, the town of Bouxwiller joined the mutualised conservation scheme set up by the Vosges du Nord Regional Nature Park and appointed a professional curator. The project of a society museum, dealing with the territory as a whole and in all its dimensions, beyond popular arts and traditions, began to emerge. It then obtained the &quot;Mus&eacute;e de France&quot; designation and became municipal.

On 29 June 2013, after two years of work, the new Museum of the Pays de Hanau opened its doors and exhibited a selection of its collections in an attractive and warm scenography.

Bus shuttles between the train stations of Saverne and Obermodern, and the centre of Bouxwiller. Obermodern is on the Ter line Strasbourg-Sarreguemines-Sarrebruck. The museum is 300 m from the bus stop.

Bouxwiller is located 40 minutes by car from Strasbourg, 1h10 from Saarbrücken and 1h30 from Nancy.The Museum is located in the centre of Bouxwiller, near the Town Hall. Parking and restaurants are available near the museum.

The museum is equipped with a lift and is fully accessible to people with reduced mobility. There are benches all along the route, allowing you to rest regularly. A car park is reserved for you at 40 m from the main entrance of the Museum.

For as long as anyone can remember, the Meyer name has been associated with the distillation of fruit from the Villé Valley. In the small village of Hohwarth in Alsace, the company has developed with the aim of producing high quality eaux-de-vie.

In 1958, Fridolin Meyer launched his first products in the Val de Vill&eacute;. 
But very quickly the quality of the fruit brandies went beyond these borders and the products were soon found on the great French and German tables. For a long time, Germany was one of the first customers of the distillery, although it is one of the most competitive markets in terms of distilleries, which shows the quality of the products.&nbsp;

In 1976, the second generation, in the person of Jean-Claude Meyer, came to help with the growing demand.

Together, father and son worked on the highest quality fruit brandies possible, until they became the most awarded distillery in France at the Concours G&eacute;n&eacute;ral Agricole de Paris, with more than 206 medals to date, the vast majority of which are gold.

The alsacien whisky and spirits museum

The Little Prince Park adventure began in 2014. The idea was to create a theme park based on the world of Saint-Exupéry. The agreement with his grand-nephew and estate manager was signed in 2013, and the Park opened a year later. 24 hectares, 36 attractions: the Park is organised around three major themes: flight (aviation and astronomy), travel, and of course encounters with animals (what would a Little Prince park be without sheep or foxes?) and nature. 

From the captive balloon flight to the biplane, from the rose to the aerobar, everything recalls the poetic work and adventurous story of Saint-Exup&eacute;ry, a hero who left his delicate mark on every generation. The Little Prince Park in Ungersheim attracts almost 200,000 visitors every year.

The entire theme park site is on one level and accessible to disabled visitors. Some attractions are not accessible to people with reduced mobility or disabilities. The Electropolis Museum is first and foremost the story of a century-old machine. The story of a monster of cast iron, steel and copper which supplied electricity to a Mulhouse filtering plant until the middle of the 20th century. A true witness to the industrial heritage of Mulhouse, the Sulzer-BBC machine built in 1901 was saved from destruction in the 1980s by a group of enthusiasts who joined forces to create the Electropolis Museum.

The Mulhouse Zoological and Botanical Park is one of the oldest zoos in France. Born in 1868, the Mulhouse Zoological and Botanical Park celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2018. When it was created, the horticulturist GEIGER Père was entrusted with the layout of the areas (earth movements, paths, fences) and the planting. Between 1873 and 1882, a botanical garden was created. From 1885, the tree and shrub species were labelled. In more than a century, it has grown, evolved, been abandoned and succeeded...

Today, the Mulhouse Zoological and Botanical Park has 1,200 animals in a garden that is home to over 3,000 plants. The Ministry of Culture and Communication has awarded the Zoological and Botanical Park the &quot;Jardin remarquable&quot; label.

Of the almost 170 animal species presented by the Zoological and Botanical Park, 90 are threatened with extinction in the wild. The Park is therefore involved in nearly 100 international breeding and conservation programmes. For nearly 30 years the park has been working in the wild to protect the last populations of lemurs, gibbons, cercopithecines, turtles and capuchins. A pioneer since 1982 and an expert in the reproduction of endangered species, the park presents its residents as ambassadors for their wild cousins in order to raise awareness of biodiversity protection among its many visitors. At the same time, more than 200 endangered plant species from the Alsace Botanical Conservatory are presented in the park; they are the subject of a conservation programme and in-depth scientific collaboration.

Aesthetic and entertaining, the park is also instructive and full of surprises: flowerings, births... With more than 400,000 visitors in 2017, the park is the leading tourist site in the Haut-Rhin and the 3rd in Alsace... and perhaps one of the most prestigious parks in France!

The presence of the wallpaper industry in Rixheim began with the installation in 1797 of the Hartmann Risler & Cie factory, later the Zuber & Cie factory (still active) in the former Commandery of the Teutonic Order. The Maison Rurale de l'Outre-Forêt was created at the instigation of the Cercle d'Histoire de l'Outre-Forêt. The Cercle was looking for a farmhouse representative of the North Alsace region to showcase its heritage and open it to the public, but also to pass on the traditions and know-how of the Outre-Forêt. The Rural House was inaugurated in July 1998. Since then, it has welcomed 12 to 15,000 visitors per year.

The Maison Rurale de l&#39;Outre-For&ecirc;t is a former farmhouse, now a heritage interpretation centre: a lively place to discover Alsace&#39;s heritage and its popular arts and traditions.

The various collections on display, illustrations of rural life in the first half of the 20th century, as well as the activities, workshops and exhibitions that complete the visit to the site, invite young and old to embrace the multiple facets of the regional art of living: from the architecture of the buildings to the traditions and know-how of our ancestors...

Soultz-sous-Forêts is located on the TER line Wissembourg - Strasbourg, 45 minutes from Strasbourg. Kutzenhausen is located 3 km from Soultz-sous-Forêts. A cycle route links the two communes.

According to the archaeologist Robert Forrer and the painter and writer Charles Spindler, the houses in Les Rochers date back to the Middle Ages. At that time, the houses were used as granaries by the Benedictine abbey, which was established in the heart of the village. 

Later, during the 17th century and after the departure of the nuns, when wars hit the region, the houses were transformed into makeshift dwellings by the inhabitants who sought protection. Then, during the 18th century, they became real dwellings. The site was inhabited until the middle of the 20th century by three families, the last inhabitant having lived there until her death in 1958.

The French oil Museum presents the history of the first oil exploitation site in Europe until the closure of the refinery in 1970.

From the 18th century onwards, oil production took on an industrial dimension until the refinery closed in 1970. The geology of the Rhine Gap explains the unique deposit, which was exploited by wells, drilling and pumping, and even by mining galleries. Technical innovations have made Pechelbronn famous in the oil industry. The museum retraces 500 years of oil history in Northern Alsace: the extent of the mine galleries and the refinery, the birth of the ANTAR company and the Institut Fran&ccedil;ais du P&eacute;trole, and the first electric core drilling are some of the highlights of this unique saga. It also presents a complete overview of the geological formation of this oil and its unexpected uses.

Located in the heart of a picturesque village, at the gateway to the Vosges du Nord Regional Nature Park, it occupies the noble and classical building of the old synagogue.
