Welcome to the Hautes-Combes du Jura. Right in the heart of the Haut-Jura Regional Nature Park, this Nordic ski area will delight lovers of the great outdoors, protected and far from the hustle and bustle of the big cities. One of the special features of the Hautes-Combes is the way the villages in the area are connected: cross-country skiing or snowshoeing between the villages is child's play thanks to the extensive network of groomed runs. The charm of the Hautes-Combes will amaze you when you come across its tall, majestic spruce trees, crossing the deep dolines of the combes that will turn your head in the direction of the unmissable Monts Jura.
Lajoux, a small village with a population of 248, is right in the heart of the Jura Mountains. It is the highest village in the Jura massif, rising to an altitude of 1165 metres. Right in the heart of the Hautes-Combes, you'll be surrounded by splendid, unique landscapes: majestic spruce and fir forests, combes and dolines shaping the land, all with a view of the unmissable Monts Jura.
In winter, the snow-covered coombs put on their white mantle, offering a wide range of activities: cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, downhill skiing with the ski lift in the heart of the village or lessons with the French Ski School on the fil-neige (owned by the ESF and dedicated exclusively to lessons).
In Lajoux, you can also take advantage of the play area set up at the foot of the slopes to discover and learn cross-country skiing at a gentle pace, stroll along the groomed and signposted pedestrian itinerary or multi-activity trail, or try your hand at more complex tricks on the Nordic Cross.
The pistes at Lajoux start right in the centre of the village.
