BATORAMA, Strasbourg&#39;s tour boats, offer a 70 or 45 minute tour of the city all year round. A subsidiary of the Port of Strasbourg since January 2016, Batorama is: 800,000 passengers/year from all over the world, 11 tour boats, the leading paying tourist activity in the area. Since 1947, the Port of Strasbourg's passenger transport department has been working to introduce partners and industrialists to the new port facilities. The PAS quickly felt the potential of its visits between the Rhine and the port basins.

In 1953, he acquired the Strasbourg, then another boat in 1957 capable of passing under the city&#39;s bridges. Urban navigation on the Ill then became possible. The PAS enlarges its fleet and develops its offer of tourist visits in the city centre to make it the largest paying tourist activity in the Grand Est: Batorama.

5 days Pass 

Built in the 12th century, the Haut-Koenigsbourg castle has for centuries been the witness to conflicts and rivalries between lords, kings and emperors. The castle has had a succession of illustrious owners who have left their mark on its history, and numerous events that have changed its appearance... To pass through the high gate of Haut-Koenigsbourg is to plunge into the world of the Middle Ages.

From the lower courtyard - with its inn, forge and mill - to the spiral staircases leading to the furnished flats of the lord, discover the architecture, the furnishings... but also a whole atmosphere steeped in history.

The drawbridge, the weapons room, the keep and the cannons are a constant reminder of the purpose of this mountain fortress built by an imperial Germanic family in the 12th century, which was subsequently besieged, destroyed and pillaged.

Abandoned after 1633, this prestigious castle was offered in 1899 by the town of S&eacute;lestat to William II of Hohenzollern. He dreamed of resurrecting the old Germanic Empire and fulfilled his passion for the Middle Ages by entrusting the restoration of Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle to the architect Bodo Ebhardt, a specialist in medieval fortifications.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the political dimension of this major project was to legitimise the young imperial dynasty of the Hohenzollerns and affirm the power of the new empire in the eyes of the world. Today, we admire more the educational aspect of this restoration, which without being indisputable, is mostly plausible.

The Écomusée d'Alsace opened its doors to the public on 1 June 1984. It was inaugurated shortly afterwards by Jack Lang, Minister of Culture. When it opened, the museum had about twenty buildings, some of which were unfinished, but it was already a success! It welcomed 75,000 visitors in its first year. Everyone encouraged the association to continue the adventure. The Alsatians then donated thousands of objects to the Écomusée d'Alsace, constituting the beginning of the interior fittings of the buildings: furniture, clothes, documents, photographs, etc.

Visit of the Zoological and Botanical Garden in Mulhouse

The Mulhouse Zoological and Botanical Park is one of the oldest zoos in France. Born in 1868, the Mulhouse Zoological and Botanical Park celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2018. When it was created, the horticulturist GEIGER Père was entrusted with the layout of the areas (earth movements, paths, fences) and the planting. Between 1873 and 1882, a botanical garden was created. From 1885, the tree and shrub species were labelled. In more than a century, it has grown, evolved, been abandoned and succeeded...

Today, the Mulhouse Zoological and Botanical Park has 1,200 animals in a garden that is home to over 3,000 plants. The Ministry of Culture and Communication has awarded the Zoological and Botanical Park the &quot;Jardin remarquable&quot; label.

Of the almost 170 animal species presented by the Zoological and Botanical Park, 90 are threatened with extinction in the wild. The Park is therefore involved in nearly 100 international breeding and conservation programmes. For nearly 30 years the park has been working in the wild to protect the last populations of lemurs, gibbons, cercopithecines, turtles and capuchins. A pioneer since 1982 and an expert in the reproduction of endangered species, the park presents its residents as ambassadors for their wild cousins in order to raise awareness of biodiversity protection among its many visitors. At the same time, more than 200 endangered plant species from the Alsace Botanical Conservatory are presented in the park; they are the subject of a conservation programme and in-depth scientific collaboration.

Aesthetic and entertaining, the park is also instructive and full of surprises: flowerings, births... With more than 400,000 visitors in 2017, the park is the leading tourist site in the Haut-Rhin and the 3rd in Alsace... and perhaps one of the most prestigious parks in France!

Having doubled its exhibition space since the end of 2015, the Museum now displays its collections on nearly 8000m&sup2;. The Museum offers a tour covering nearly 7000 years of history, from prehistory to 20th century art.

Visit to the Unterlinden Museum

The Unterlinden Museum is housed in the former Dominican convent of Unterlinden, founded in the 13th century. An important monastic complex in the 14th and 15th centuries, the convent became a centre of Christian mysticism in the Rhine Valley. After the departure of the nuns during the Revolution, the buildings became the property of the city of Colmar and were transformed into military barracks.

In the middle of the 19th century, when the former Unterlinden convent was slated for demolition, Louis Hugot, archivist and librarian for the city of Colmar, sought to save the building. In 1847, he founded the Schongauer Society. In 1848, a spectacular archaeological discovery contributed to the birth of the museum: a Gallo-Roman mosaic unearthed in Bergheim was placed in the convent chapel. In 1852, the works of the revolutionary museum were transferred to the former convent. The museum managed by the Schongauer Society opened its doors to the public in 1853, presenting a collection of sculptures and painted panels from the Antonine commandery in Issenheim.

A prestigious setting for the famous Issenheim Altarpiece! An almost complete panorama of art can be seen in this superb convent turned museum. The Unterlinden Museum is located in its founding location, the 13th century convent, and is now connected to the former municipal baths, which were opened in 1906. The architects Herzog &amp; de Meuron have combined the buildings with a contemporary extension. An underground gallery with three exhibition rooms runs under the Place Unterlinden and the canal.

The museum is reminiscent of the architecture of a 16th century Rhenish town hall. In the basement, important archaeological collections are presented, among which the furniture of more than 750 Bronze and Iron Age burials from the Haguenau forest should be noted. 
The Roman period is also well represented by beautiful bronze objects: legionnaire&#39;s helmet, leggings from a ceremonial armour, Gallo-Roman divinities, sandstone sculptures and numerous objects for domestic use. 
The ground floor is devoted to the history of the town through charters, seals, coins, aldermen&#39;s cups, etc., from the 12th to the 16th century. 
A collection of more than 80 glasses: vases, lamps and bowls, in the Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles, assembled by the collector David Henninger, bears witness to the important glass production of Eastern France. 
Regional artistic production is also represented through the sculptures and ceramics of Alsatian artists such as L&eacute;on Elchinger.

Strasbourg and Northern Pass'Alsace 3 days

A neo-Renaissance building for collections dating back to prehistory. The first collections were assembled by the City of Haguenau in the mid-19th century. These were numismatic, archaeological, decorative arts and popular arts and traditions collections. Around 1900, Xavier Nessel, mayor of Haguenau since 1871, collector of antiquities and archaeologist, proposed to give all his collections to the town, on condition that the town council would build a museum that would also house the archives and the municipal library. The neo-Renaissance building was built between 1900 and 1905.

The entrance hall features a stained glass window designed by the Alsatian artist L&eacute;o Schnug depicting the appearance of Richard the Lionheart before Emperor Henry VI, a historic event that took place in Haguenau in 1193.

Built between 1900 and 1905 in a Neo-Renaissance style, the museum houses collections that illustrate the history of the town and surrounding region, from prehistory up until modern times. A rich archaeological collection from the Bronze and Iron Ages provides information on a culture that flourished in the Forest of Haguenau. It also contains exceptional objects from the Gallo-Roman period, such as the Roman Legionnaire&rsquo;s helmet. Several rooms are dedicated to the history of the town since it was founded in the 12th century. A collection of faience is a reminder that the Hannong family of ceramicists stayed in the town. The museum also has a beautiful collection of Art Nouveau and Art Deco glassware.

The Rohan Palace in Strasbourg was built from 1732 to 1742 according to plans by Robert de Cotte, First Architect to the King, for Cardinal Armand-Gaston de Rohan-Soubise, Prince-Bishop of Strasbourg. Designed on the model of the great Parisian hotels, the Episcopal Palace of Strasbourg is one of the most beautiful architectural achievements of the French 18th century, both for the noble and classical elevation of its facades and for its sumptuous interior decorations. Built, decorated and furnished in the space of ten years, this sumptuous residence, which has remained almost unchanged since its construction, is distinguished by its exceptional unity of style. The city's Fine Arts Museum moved there in 1889, followed by the Archaeological Museum in 1913 and the Decorative Arts Museum in 1924.

The old Planetarium on rue de l&#39;Observatoire has closed its doors. The new Planetarium is located at 27 boulevard de la Victoire.The films and the starry sky presentation are in French. However, you can an audioguide in English or German to follow the film. The  starry sky presentation is not translated.

This immersive auditorium with its dome screen is a fabulous space where everyone can learn about astronomy. The whole family can watch spectacular films (suitable for the very young) and learn about the mysteries of the starry sky with their heads in the stars (literally). And if your curious little ones have questions that you don&#39;t know how to answer, don&#39;t panic: there are mediators with you at every screening! Take a journey to the very edge of the universe. You&#39;ll be amazed!

The cellars of the castle house the archaeological collections. On the 2nd floor, the rooms of the Art and History section are still being transformed. The rooms devoted to Louise Weiss allow visitors to understand the beginnings of European construction by discovering the avant-garde political projects that she supported between 1919 and 1934 in her international political magazine l&#39;Europe Nouvelle: Franco-German rapprochement, the first projects for European union and the League of Nations.

Visit of the Rohan Castle Museum and its gazebo

The Saverne Museum is the oldest municipal museum in Alsace after those in Strasbourg and Colmar. In creating a museum in 1858, the city of Saverne expressed its interest and desire to preserve in a historical place "objects that bear witness to the greatness and antiquity of Saverne". These included the first archaeological discoveries made in the Saverne area, the many sandstone sculptures discovered by chance during construction or consolidation work on houses or during the digging of the Marne-Rhine canal in 1845, as well as paintings from Saverne's churches and the castle.

From the outset, the museum&#39;s aim was to preserve Saverne&#39;s heritage as a whole. 
The museum was initially housed in the Saint-Michel chapel, which was located near the parish church and the castle. In 1952, the city of Saverne bought the Rohan castle from the Domaines and moved the museum to the second floor in the south wing. At the end of the 1980s, the museum moved to the central part of the castle adjoining the south wing. This was reserved for the Louise Weiss section, which opened in 1996.

The Rohan Castle Museum features rich archaeological collections of Gallo-Roman and medieval objects discovered in and around Saverne. The museum has three sections: art and history, Louise Weiss and archaeology.

The Humanist Library of Sélestat (Bas-Rhin) brings together the collections of the town's parish library. And those of the personal library of the Alsatian humanist Beatus Rhenanus (16th century), who donated them to his native town. It is housed in the town's former corn exchange, built in 1845.

Among the treasures that visitors can admire is a 7th century liturgical manuscript. The oldest book preserved in Alsace.

But also a 13th century bible, with numerous illuminations. Some of them in gold. Or a school book by Beatus Rhenanus. Written more than five centuries ago, it is a rare document.

Since 2011, the humanist library in S&eacute;lestat has been listed in the Unesco Memory of the World register. This testifies to the universality and value of this collection.
