WELCOME TO THE DUNKIRK MARITIME AND PORT MUSEUM!The Maritime and Port Museum, with its rich heritage unique in Europe, welcomes you to the heart of the historic Citadelle district for an unforgettable visit, with your family, alone or with friends! Take a unique tour of a former 19th-century tobacco warehouse and discover the portrait of the famous privateer Jean Bart, some exceptional figureheads and the history of fishing in Iceland. You'll love admiring the details of the many ship models, contemplating the picturesque dioramas and surprising panorama paintings, or strolling through the vast technical gallery dedicated to the handling trades, under the gaze of the giant Roge the docker! Moored opposite the museum, the spectacular three-masted schooner Duchesse Anne, the largest visitable sailing ship in France, and the fireboat Sandettié, both listed historic monuments, invite you to extend your adventure by exploring the great era of sailing and the unusual world of signalling at sea. The barge Guilde, the launch Pilotine 1 and the tug Entreprenant will also tell you all about the history of inland waterway transport, maritime pilotage and port towing. To finish your visit in style, climb to the top of the Risban lighthouse for a breathtaking 360° view of maritime Flanders.
