The name of the winery was naturally chosen because of our exceptional location!

We are situated on the slopes of one of the most famous peaks in the Vosges Mountains, called "Hartmannswillerkopf."

Renamed by the press at the time due to a pronunciation issue, "Hartmannswillerkopf" was Gallicized to become "Vieil Armand."
It was one of the most important battlefields in Alsace during the First World War.

Faced with these tragic events, the winegrowers chose to join forces to meet the challenge of restructuring their vineyards.
A century later, thanks to the tireless work of each of our winemakers, our magnificent vineyard has become one of the most favorable environments for producing wines of unparalleled quality!

Winery La Cave du Vieil Armand - Soultz Wuenheim

At the edge of the villages of Soultz and Wuenheim, nestled at the foot of the famous Vosges peak, Mont Vieil Armand. The Cave du Vieil Armand, a human-scale Alsatian cooperative, brings together some sixty winegrowing families spread across 150 hectares of vineyards. The majority of our winegrowers have owned their family vineyards for over four generations!Located at the southernmost point of the Alsace Wine Route, our vines flourish here in a terroir of unparalleled richness. The clay-limestone soils, caressed by the mild Alsatian climate, prove to be the ideal cradle for our grape varieties. With a total production potential of 1.3 million bottles per year, we offer the full range of the 7 Alsatian grape varieties available in all the Appellations d'Origine Contrôlées: AOC Alsace, AOC Alsace Grand Cru and AOC Crémant d'Alsace.
