Maison de la Baie du Marais Poitevin

Nestling between the Marais Poitevin and the Baie de l'Aiguillon, the Maison de la Baie du Marais Poitevin invites you to discover the museum of mussel cultivation and the fortified church of Esnandes, listed as a Historic Monument in 1840.

The Maison de la Baie du Marais Poitevin has been managed by the La Rochelle Tourist Office since 2025.

Access by bike

Access by car

Visit the Maison de la Baie du Marais Poitevin to find out all about mussel cultivation in the Baie de l&#39;Aiguillon. This mussel-growing museum shows a video documentary on the ecosystem of the maritime marsh, as well as a fun and interactive museographic display on this emblematic shellfish of the bay. Accompanied by a guide from the Maison de la Baie, you can also visit the fortified church of St-Martin d&#39;Esnandes opposite and climb up to the ramparts. At a height of more than 15 metres, you&#39;ll have access to an exceptional 360-degree panorama of the bay, the marshes and the surrounding villages.
