Corderie Royale

In the heart of Colbert's Arsenal, discover the Corderie Royale, built in 1666 on the orders of Louis XIV. From land to sea, from hemp fields to the King's ships, come and meet the ropemakers and their work. Enter the workshops and discover the daily work of the workers, the transformation of the material, the evolution of techniques and the activities of a major factory.

The Centre International de la Mer has been working to make the Corderie Royale site accessible since 2004, and in 2011 was awarded the Tourisme & Handicap label (visual and hearing disabilities), and in 2013 (motor and mental disabilities), as well as the Prix Patrimoine pour Tous, awarded by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication.
