With 70 rooms covering 7,000 m&sup2;, the Museum of Fine Arts in the Palais Saint Pierre is the largest Fine Arts museum in France after the Louvre. It contains sculptures and paintings from the 14th to the 20th century, collections of Egyptian art, oriental art, art objects, coins, etc. Madame Delubac left her collections to the museum in 1997. 
The museum is ranked first among France&#39;s regional museums and fifth among France&#39;s museums. 
It was created in 1803 in a former twelfth century Benedictine convent by Fran&ccedil;ois Royer de la Valfeni&egrave;re. After restoration works by Philippe-Charles Dubois, Jean-Michel Wilmotte and Gabriel Mortamet that began in 1989, the current museum was inaugurated in March 1998. 
Thomas Blanchet (1614-1689) created the baroque statues in the Refectory and on the main stairway.

On the site on which cinematography was born, the museum presents the story of the Lumi&egrave;re Brothers&rsquo; inventions thanks to projections and interactive features on four floors of the Ch&acirc;teau Lumi&egrave;re, the home of Antoine, father of the two famous inventors.

In the very birthplace of cinematography : projections of Lumi&egrave;re films with commentary, the first cameras, colour and 3D photographs, etc.

Enter into a wide range of film sets and discover a rich collection of authentic filming from the biggest European and American film studios. Eight educational rooms illustrated with miniatures, animatronics, masks, prostheses, robots, costumes, creatures and monsters of all kinds, reveal many secrets about the special effects techniques used in cinema. From &quot;Spiderman&quot; to &quot;Mrs Doubtfire&quot; through &quot;The 5th Element&quot; and &quot;Gremlin&#39;s&quot;, more than 450 mythical pieces of film delight us throughout this dive behind the scenes of secret cinema. 
Admire exclusively in Lyon the complete collection of miniature scenes by Dan Ohlmann that are faithful reproductions on a 1/12th scale of our living spaces. Its confusing micro-decors of realism are surrounded by more than 1000 masterpieces of patience and dexterity made by different miniaturist artists from around the world. 
Discovering the magical world of Dan Ohlmann and his own workshop, visible from the outside, you will leave for a trip to another dimension.
